What do the Red Hot Chili Peppers, ‘A League of Their Own’, and crazy Gary Busey have in common?
100 percent pure adrenaline baby!
Point Break is a terrible movie and make no mistake about that fact. But after Busey’s exuberant request for multiple artery clogging (read: delicious) sandwiches, the film has become………..
wait for iiiiiit…legendary.
Don’t forget we also have Patrick Swayze here. You know he would never leave us in the corner hoping for a better movie. Speaking of Swayze, he was in an episode of M*A*S*H back in 1981 called “Blood Brothers”. In it he played a soldier who graciously wished for nothing more than to give blood to save the life of his buddy that was seriously wounded. Sadly, he discovers after his blood is tested that he has leukemia. It’s eerie watching this episode nowadays in light of how Patrick ultimately died.
Back to the Point. <dramatic pause> Anthony Kiedis and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are so very bad at acting they actually make Keanu Reeves appear competent. Keanu, despite being a truly horrible actor, has been in many excellent movies which I have personally enjoyed very much. I have even tolerated his performances in those films despite all the scenery chewing. Is this one of those films?? Well, no.
Oh yeah, Lori Petty of ‘A League of Their Own’ fame is in this too. It’s true…checked it on IMDB.
There are basically three things that make Point Break watchable and very quotable over and over again. They are Busey, Busey, and Mr. Joshua. Okay, so that’s still Busey. You get the point.
How you doing with those meatball sandwiches Gary?
I would give Point Break a quotability rating of 3 out of 5 Vinny’s:
