The hardest thing to do in the area of gift shopping, is figure out what to get for your dad on Father’s Day. This is a man that has always been there for you. In most cases, he has pretty much everything he needs already. What can you possibly get for him that will truly make him happy? More importantly, what can you get that he’ll actually use? You want to show your appreciation for all that he’s done for you, but you also want to impact his daily life in some way.
So, what is out there that fits the bill? No problem, Chico’s got your back. I have scoured the countryside for some really great ideas. Okay, really I just scoured online and on Amazon. Nevertheless, I know these are great because they are things I want for Father’s Day myself. The items listed below may not completely alter your dad’s life forever (then again, who knows). I can tell you they are sure to garner more than a polite “Well, that’s nice” on June 17th. Take a look, happy shopping and Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere!
LEGO Architecture – United States Capitol Building – This is a great one especially if you still live at home, or have time to spend with your dad putting it together. LEGO sets are not necessarily just for kids anymore. This is a beautiful, detailed set that is perfect to display as well as fun to assemble.
Personalized Custom Engraved Whiskey Barrel – If your dad is like mine, then you can’t really go wrong with anything related to whiskey or bourbon. With this barrel he can store or age any type of spirit or even wine. Also, it can be engraved with his name at no extra cost to add a touch of class. It holds one liter and comes with a stand, spigot and bung hole…yes, bung hole.
Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD and Alexa Voice Remote – If I wasn’t already set up with the Apple TV, this would be the streaming device I’d want. Not only do you get spectacular 4K Ultra HD video with HDR, but this thing is Dolby Atmos capable as well. That’ll give your dad the best sound available from movies and TV. Check out more information on Atmos here. With the Fire TV your dad will have access to over 500,000 movies and TV episodes from channels and apps that include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, and NBC. He can also use Alexa on the remote to do some cool things like play music, order a pizza or control some connected Philips Hue light bulbs.
Titanic Building Block Kit – Same concept as the Capital building above, although this is not from LEGO. It looks amazing and personally I love ships and ship building. It’s 1,021 pieces of fun filled father/child bonding time. The completed Titanic will look great on your father’s mantle or someplace in the man cave.
Royal Decanters Sailing Ship Liquor Dispenser and Glasses – Speaking of ships…what could be better than combing ships with booze? This set really caught my eye and looks awesome. It comes with the stainless steel spigot dispenser and four etched world map glasses. Your dad will love to display this on his bar top and it makes a great showpiece for parties. My only problem would be trying to keep the decanter filled!
BBQ Smoker Wood Chip Grill Set – Does your dad have a smoker? If not, no problem. With this set he can smoke meat on any gas or charcoal grill. It’s a six piece set and includes a stainless steel smoker box, BBQ thermometer, and three flavors of smoking wood chips (hickory, apple and cherry wood). The instructions are easy to follow, and the also give you some favored smoking recipes. My mouth is watering already.
Tactical Pen for Self-Defense – Tactical…survival gear…self defense…you’ve got my attention. This is one pen that is truly “mightier than the sword.” So, what does it do besides write? Well, it can be used to break a window in case of emergency. Who knows when that will come in handy. It also has a flashlight and a bottle opener. It’s a rugged and durable addition to your dad’s personal survival gear. You’ll feel better knowing he has it.
LED Liquor Shelf and Bottle Display – Ahh, the glow of electric booze…isn’t it spectacular? This 3 foot shelf is slim and versatile as well as bright. The LED lights will last for 50,000 hours at a minimum, and give your dad numerous color options. He can also adjust the brightness and make them fade or flash with the included remote. I’m not so sure flashing lights after drinking are a great idea, though!
Father’s Day Engraved Hammer – This is a sentimental favorite if you have a dad that always fixed things around the house. Even fathers that aren’t too handy have done their fair share of household chores. Besides that, I think this is a sentiment which covers much more than actual building and fixing things. If you’d prefer to keep it light this year, there are a few other engraved options. There is the cheesy yet humorous, “Dad, When It Comes To Being a Father You Nailed It
” hammer…or the somewhat tasteless, Dad, Thanks for Nailing Mom
hammer. Hey, whatever floats your boat.
DAVIS INSTRUMENTS Weather Station – This one may not be for everyone. However, if your dad loves weather and forecasting as much as me…it’s going to hit the jackpot. These weather stations are a lot of fun and it’s a kick to see your station’s data on a website like Weather Underground. With these kits, your dad will be able to upload current conditions from his location in realtime. As long as it’s up and running, people going online searching for the area weather will see his station. It’s pretty cool, and a service to the community.
With this model, he’ll get a fan aspirated shield to ensure better accuracy of temperature and humidity readings. There is also a rain collector and anemometer for measuring wind speeds. The data is transmitted wirelessly to the included console which will continuously update with the current conditions.
Wicker 7.5-Gal Outdoor Patio Table Cooler
– This is just in time for some warmer weather. Set your dad up with a few cold ones and he won’t need to get up for the rest of the day! His drinks will stay cold for up to twelve hours. They are great for parties or for just chilling out back. The table top can be lowered too if dad prefers a morning coffee. The cooler is easily filled, easily drained and durable enough to stand up to the elements.
